The Code of Recommended Practice for Local Authorities on Data Transparency (Pursuant to Section 2 of Local Government, Planning & Land Act 1980
In October 2014, the Local Government Transparency Code came into effect. The Act covers recommended practice on data Transparency and applies to Parish and Town Councils with a gross income and expenditure in excess of £200,000. The Government is recommending an increase in transparency through publication of data to enable tax payers to see how local authorities use public money.
