An opportunity has arisen to join Watchet Town Council as the Town Clerk. The Town Council is very pro-active in serving its community of 4000 residents. The position requires 28 hours per week to be worked Monday to Thursday at the Watchet Town Council office. Attendance at monthly evening Council and Committee meetings is a requirement of the position.
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the National Joint Agreement (NJA) pay scales depending on experience (CiLCA qualification or similar) for an LC2 salary band 27-31 equating to:
Spinal point 27 – £33,820 – £17.58 per hour – pro rata £25,593
Spinal point 31 – £37,261 – £19.37 per hour – pro rata £28,197
Enrolment on the Local Government Pension Scheme will be offered.
The post requires a self-motivated person, with a good general education, sound administrative skills and an ability to meet deadlines, have excellent people skills, enabling them to work well with councillors, staff and members of the public.
Previous work as a Clerk is preferred, but not essential, as there is a requirement to complete the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) within a 12-month period. The person will require experience in a management/supervisory role and an ability to organise staff and the operation of the Town Council in an effective manner.
