Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, 21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022
It is with great sadness to hear of the passing of our beloved Queen Elizabeth II. She had been a constant in my life, and I thank her on behalf of myself, the Town Council and the people of Watchet for her unwavering devotion to public office. She was a much loved head of a family who will need the support of the nation while they both grieve and carry on with their public duties.
We will continue to honour her with opportunities for the public to pay their respects in a Book of Condolences. There is an official online opens in a new windowBook of Condolence, and there will also be a Book of Condolence at Watchet Visitor Centre from tomorrow (13th September 2022) until Tuesday 20th September, between the hours of 10am and 3pm.
Flowers of condolence may be laid at the War Memorial on Harbour Road, Watchet.
Council meetings which were due to be held on 15th September are cancelled and will be rescheduled.
Please keep an eye on our Facebook page for further information over the course of the period of mourning.
