Fall in love with nature on Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day – 14 February – will mark the start of a new venture to encourage people to fall in love with Somerset and its rich natural heritage.
Somerset Council’s Library service is launching a series of free ‘Celebrating Somerset – connecting with nature’ drop-in events and the first is in Taunton Library’s Glass Box on 14 February from 2pm-5pm.
Visitors will be able to see some special new short films showcasing Somerset nature sites and even take a virtual reality tour. The project has been made possible via funding received from Natural England and Libraries Connected.
Councillor Federica Smith-Roberts, Executive Lead Member for Communities, said: “Libraries are about so much more than borrowing books – they are fantastic places where our communities can enjoy a wide range of activities.
“Connecting with nature is important for us all and I’d like to thanks our partners for making these events possible.”
Partners from Somerset Wildlife Trust, National Trust and Exmoor National Park will be on hand to offer advice and information and there’ll be some fun hands-on nature-based activities for all ages to enjoy.
