A39 West Quantoxhead
Urgent Road Closure
National Grid Pole Damaged and Dangerous Cables
Good Afternoon all,
I write to inform you of an immediate Road Closure in place by National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED), that has commenced this afternoon.
Due to the damage caused by Storm Darragh, an NGED telegraph pole has been snapped, leaving 11KV electricity cables in dangerous proximity to the carriageway. NGED have therefore closed the A39 while a new pole is erected, and the cables are safely replaced. The location is between West Quantoxhead and Kilve, approximately 400m west of the junction of Perry Lane. Please see location below.
NGED have been made aware of the heavy sensitivity of the route and are advising a current repair estimation of up to 4 hours. As soon as the repairs are complete, the road will be reopened to traffic. National Grid can be contacted on 0800 096 3080.
A Street Works Inspector is aware of the works and will be making their way to site to ensure works are progressing.
Please feel free to contact myself or National Grid if you have any queries. We will ensure any further updates are cascaded if necessary.
Kind Regards,
Ryan Chamberlain
