The Code of Recommended Practice for Local Authorities on Data Transparency (Pursuant to Section 2 of Local Government, Planning & Land Act 1980

In October 2014, the Local Government Transparency Code came into effect. The Act covers recommended practice on data Transparency and applies to Parish and Town Councils with a gross income and expenditure in excess of £200,000. The Government is recommending an increase in transparency through publication of data to enable tax payers to see how local authorities use public money.

Watchet Town Council publishes most of the information already on this website and is open and transparent in how it transacts its business.
