in the Methodist Schoolroom, Harbour Road, Watchet

June 16 2009 saw the retirement of John Eslick the assistant groundsman for Watchet Town Council. Mr Eslick had worked for the authority for 11 years and had shown loyalty and dedication to his appointed role as groundsman to St Decumans Churchyard. At the full Council meeting held on Monday 14 September 2009, Mr Eslick was presented with an engraved wooden plaque “for his services to the people of Watchet” by vice chairman Cllr Douglas Webber. “You were an asset to the council and you will be missed “up on the hill” said Cllr Webber. Mr Eslick was also presented with a bottle of wine and Mrs Margaret Eslick, who was also in attendance was presented with a bouquet of flowers.
